Due to the rapid growth of our organization, in 2003 the Executive Board appointed a Strategic Planning Committee to address questions about our mission, our goals, and our vision of the future of the organization. A committee was formed which was chaired by Former OACAC President Hamilton Gregg, International School-Beijing, China. Others on the committee include:

* Craig Worthington, American Community School-Heywood, UK
* Bryan Zerbe, Carnegie Mellon University-Qatar
A missions statement was drafted at their meeting in Toronto. This statement was offered to the members attending the business meeting in Toronto and their feedback was requested. After reviewing the survey results, the following mission statement was adopted by the Executive Board in September, 2004:
The mission of the Overseas Association for College Admission Counseling is to facilitate global interaction among counselors and institutions in support of students in their transition from secondary to higher education.
