PRE/POST EVENTS

OACAC is pleased to announce a special Preconference Workshop on Brief Therapy for International High School counselors at Pepperdine University,

July 13 to 15

Brief Therapy

What is Brief Therapy?
Brief counseling has nine defining characteristics. These are not mutually exclusive from characteristics of other counseling approaches, but taken together they give brief counseling its uniqueness. The nine characteristics are:

(1) relationship-based,

(2) humor-eliciting,

(3) time-limited,

(4) solution-focused,

(5) action-based,

(6) socially interactive,

(7) detail-oriented,

(8) developmentally attentive, and

(9) culturally responsive.

John Littrell plans to make this a practical, hands-on brief counseling workshop. Mini-lectures, DVDs, life demonstrations, and practice will keep participants wide awake and learning. John guarantees that you will take home new ideas and practical skills. You can see what he has in store for us below in the outline of his two-day workshop.
