Membership Types

Voting membership is extended to individuals employed by secondary schools or by not-for profit accredited two and four-year colleges and universities in countries and provinces outside the United States and not served by other affiliates of NACAC. Members shall be charged by their institutions with the responsibility for counseling or admitting students and must agree to follow the NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice. Individuals representing organizations, agencies, and institutions overseas which are not for profit, and which provide post-secondary counseling, admission and financial aid services are also eligible to be voting members.

Associate nonvoting membership status is granted to individuals, institutions, organizations and agencies outside the OACAC region who satisfy criteria for membership but are located in another NACAC region. Associate members have the right to hold the office of Vice President, serve on committees, receive OACAC publications and other mailings, and attend OACAC meetings, conferences, and other events. Members residing in the US are almost always associate members.

An application for membership can be downloaded and mailed with your US dollar check as explained on the application or you can apply online and pay by credit card.

Membership Year

The OACAC membership year runs from January 1 to December 31. New members who join OACAC at the NACAC annual conference or later in the year will continue their membership for the next year at no additional charge. Membership is required to attend our annual conference.

Conference Scholarships

OACAC has developed two Counselor Scholarships to encourage participation in the OACAC and NACAC conferences. The goal is to support counselors who are involved in college counseling at overseas schools but have not had the resources to attend these conferences. To learn about whether you are eligible for these scholarships, download a scholarship application form.
