Capella University’s online School Counseling program with residency.
The demand for qualified school counselors is expected to grow as school enrollments increase, more states pass counseling mandates, and school counselors take on expanded roles. This School Counseling master’s specialization is built on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and includes course work, field training, and residencies. It is designed to prepare you to deliver and manage contemporary school counseling programs, and act as a school leader who can advocate for the personal, educational, and social needs of students. People who choose this specialization are often interested in pursuing licensure as school counselors.
University of Massatuchettes’s Master of Education in School Counseling
UMass Online’s Master of Education in School Counseling is designed to meet the needs of a local, national and international audience of adults wishing to enter the School Guidance field. The program operates on a cohort model whereby all participants complete the same program of study over a two-year period. Clinical courses are taught during the first summer and all participants must be present on campus for the months of July and August. (Housing information will be provided by the program upon request).The remaining courses are delivered in a web-based on-line format following a semester calendar. Participants must follow the program of study exactly.

The low residency Masters in Psychology and Counseling is a 48-60 credit graduate program devoted to progressive education and embracing a wide range of student interests and abilities. The program addresses and nurtures each student’s individual approach to the field, resulting in a unique plan of coursework. The Masters in Psychology and Counseling Program is approved by the Council of Applied Master’s Programs in Psychology (CAMPP).

William Carey’s Online School Counseling Endorsement program
The Online School Counseling Endorsement program is designed to assist individuals holding a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree achieve school counselor licensure in the State of Mississippi.
The endorsement program adds 18-24 hours to an individual’s 30 hour M.Ed. degree thereby meeting the minimum 48 hour degree requirement for school counseling licensure in Mississippi. Both EDU 640 Curriculum Planning (3hrs) and PSY 620 Introduction to Research (3hrs) are waived for students who completed equivalent courses during their M.Ed. (assuming a grade of at least “B” in each course) reducing the required number of hours for the endorsement to 18 (six courses).
